The first portfolio

She had the work. What she needed was a way to show it.

Six good projects were sitting on her phone—in screenshots, old chats, a PDF and a folder she kept meaning to organise.

“Can you send me a link to your work?”

It was a simple question. Her answer never felt simple.

01

Good work, scattered

Every project made sense on its own. Together, they had no story.

She could send files one after another, then add messages explaining what each one was, why it mattered and what part she had played. But the person receiving them had to do too much work to understand her.

The problem was not experience. It was presentation.

A portfolio is more than a gallery

It gives separate pieces of work one clear point of view.

02

Finding the thread

Choose what belongs. Explain what only you can explain.

A strong first portfolio does not need to contain everything. It needs to help someone see how you think, what you can do and why your contribution mattered.

  • 01The work worth leading with
  • 02Context for each project
  • 03A clear introduction to the person behind it
  • 04One link that is easy to remember and share

You can begin from here

You do not need more years of work before your work deserves a home.

Bring the screenshots, drafts, links and half-written notes. We'll help you find the story and build the place where it can live.

This is an illustrative story representing a familiar experience shared by people preparing their first portfolio.
